On Saturday the 19th of February 2011 we were allowed to join the Giant Puppet Parade with our PURE! Dream Centre (PDC). A yearly recurring and very popular creative event for underprivileged children in and around Siem Reap. The Giant Puppet Parade can be compared to an actual carnival parade. A true spectacle!
Each group of participants prepared something different for the parade. The children of the PDC made clouds and raindrops. Much according to the myth of the start of the rainy season. Last Saturday it was finally happening, the actual parade. All volunteers, employees and children gathered at the office. Groups were arranged and t-shirts and name badges were put on. Quickly eat a banana and off to the Old Market in Siem Reap with the clouds and raindrops in our hands. The children stared their eyes out! Without doubt they had never experienced anything like it, countless new impressions. The parade went from the Old Market through Pub Street and onto the street by the river to finish at the Royal Garden, where a few shows had been organised. Finally, at 9 o’clock, they went home in the truck tired but satisfied.
A very special event for both children, employees and volunteers. Without doubt the event of the year!
