After eight weeks of thinking, practising, making and collecting materials and practising more, presentation day was finally there. on Wednesday 27th.
Under the professional guidance of Tisse, her morning group had prepared a puppet show. Four readers, switching turns and reading in Khmer and English, told the audience the story of a the little mermaid. The rest of the players showed the story with their handmade cardboard puppets. It was a big success, especially when the mermaid found her prince at the end.
The second show in the morning was made by the medium group, under the guidance of our drama intern Esther. This show was a real play and the story was read by our employee Somphor. The audience laughed a lot and enjoyed the story but maybe the players had even more fun in the showing us the story of a village which gets bewitched. The things that can happen than?
The afternoon shows were completely different. This time the medium group started. The story was read by Sam At and Kai. The other members of this group showed us the story. The story was about how much better it is to help instead of fight each other. The last show was in English again. This is to say, there was not al lot of text, it was basically mime what we saw. This was accompanied with music of Bob Marley. The students performed this in such an enthusiastic way.
Overall it was a special day. It is so nice to see how well these students already can express themselves. But of course the work of Esther and Tisse was important too. Thanks a lot; audience and players have enjoyed this day very much.
