Is there any age limit on voluntering?
Yes you must be at least 18 years to join our volunteer program, some programs start at 21 years of age. Please check this on the program site.
When my booking is definitive?
You booking is definitive when you received a travelpack including a booking bevestiging. In the travelpack you find all kind of extra information and a date for your information day (only in The Netherlands)
Can I cancel and refund my money?
You can cancel until 30 days before departure with a refund. Less than 30 days before departure we can not refund your money since PURE! and the project are depending on you and counting on your help, the projects can not lose money because you cancel.
I know a project in Cambodia that can use volunteers, can i tell that to PURE! ?
Yes, always! We are always intersted in meeting and knowing more projects, thank you so much for informing them about us and giving us their details. We can contact them and visit them in Cambodia.
Can i easily be in contact with my family and friends back home?
Yes, there are everywhere enough internet and phone facilities available.
Can i help with more projects of PURE!?
Yes of course. You can combine different projects of PURE!. For instance you work with 1 project for 1 month and then 1 month in another project within Cambodia. This way you can see more of the country if you pick for instance different places.
Is it possible to see more of Cambodia while i am volunteering?
Yes, you work about 5 or 6 days so you have the evenings free and every Sunday. If you are a weekend of you can for instance even take a field trip! You are free to travel wherever you want, as long as you are back on your work on Mondays.
How is the safety in Cambodia?
Cambodia is safe if you act normal and think normal. Don't go walking alone at night and stay on the road because of mines (this is only outside the cities!). Use some common sense and you will be fine.
What's up with the mines in Cambodia?
In Cambodia there are still a lot of mines but 100Km around the big cities everything is safe. Only in the rainforests and the far away countryside there are still a lot of mines. Where you are working for PURE! there are no mines but always be carefull and stay on the road, just to make sure.
How is the weather in Cambodia?
The weather is hot but knows 2 climates, hot and rainy and hot and dry. Our summer it's rainy in Cambodia, this means a hard rain for about 1 hour and it's dry again, but sometimes it rains for days. But the temperture will always me nice around 30 degrees. And the rain is very nice to cool off. In our wintertime it can be very hot in Cambodia around the 40 degrees and very dry.
What kind of money do they have in Cambodia?
Cambodia pays with RIEL and Dollars. 4000 riel = 1 dollar.
You can always pay with dollars, when you go to the ATM you always get only dollars.
Can I get money everywhere in Cambodia?
In the big cities and all places around the PURE! projects you can find ATM's and banks everywhere.
How much time difference there is between Cambodia and The Netherlands?
6 or 7 hours time difference, it depends on our summer/winter time.
Does PURE! also book my planeticket?
No, PURE! only arranges your volunteer travelpack inside Cambodia. If you need help with booking an airticket, please contact PURE!. We can always help you against a small service and administration fee.
Can I travel together with other volunteers?
If you want to be in touch with other volunteers you can post on our forum and find travel mates or you can contact PURE! to get information.
Do I need vaccinations?
Yes, please contact your nearest health center for more information.
What kind of insurance do I need and how do I arrange that?
You need full travel insurance. Without insurance you can not join our program. You can find more information about this online or contact PURE!.
Do i need a visa?
Yes you do need a visa, you can get a visa at the airport of Siem Reap or Phnom Penh when you are arriving in Cambodia. The cost for a tourist visa is 20 USD and the cost of a business visa is 25 USD. As a volunteer you always need a business visa!
Is there accompaniment in Cambodia?
Yes, every project has its own coordinator. You can always be in touch with our coordinator.Most of the time he or she works also within the project.
Who can I contact when i am having problems in Cambodia?
You can always be in contact with your project coordinator in your own town/project and you can always contact PURE!.
Will i be picked up from the airport or bus station in Cambodia?
Yes, when you arrive in Cambodia, you will be picked up by somebody from the project that you will be involved in. He or she will bring you to your accomodation.
Can I help PURE! in The Netherlands as a volunteer?
We are always looking for people that want to help PURE! in The Netherlands. There is so much to do, think about setting up sponsorships, arranging fundraisings, helping on fairs and spreading the word.
I would like to do my internship within one of the PURE! projects, is that possible?
